In the context of rising energy costs and the need for a sustainable, efficient working environment, optimizing the HVAC system is essential. At Saigon Centre – Tower 2, one of the leading commercial buildings, we are pleased to introduce the key project: EC-Motor Fan Upgrade for AHU Systems.

This project aims not only to significantly reduce energy consumption but also to enhance the stability and integrate smart control capabilities for the entire Air Handling Unit (AHU) system.

The core objectives of the project are to achieve a reduction of 10% to 40% in energy consumption, ensure a more durable system operation, and expand the integration of smart controls, providing maximum operational flexibility and efficiency. Our unit is proud to be the project's implementation partner, committed to delivering advanced and sustainable solutions for Saigon Centre.

Project Implementation Time

The EC-Motor fan upgrade project for AHUs at Saigon Centre is planned and implemented with a clear timeline, ensuring completion on schedule and achieving the set goals.

  • Construction Implementation Timeframe: From April 26, 2025 to June 3, 2025.
  • Data Collection and Performance Evaluation Phase: Extended to June 30, 2025.
  • Total Construction Time: 31 days, including the renovation of 39 AHUs with EC motors.

We are strongly committed to achieving a minimum of 15% energy savings compared to the current system, while also optimising the operation of the entire air cooling system.

Implementation Process of the EC-Motor Fan Upgrade Project for AHUs

The construction process of the EC-Motor fan upgrade project for AHUs is scientifically and rigorously constructed, ensuring efficiency, safety, and the highest quality.

1. Preparation & Site Survey

This stage is the foundation for all subsequent work.

  • AHU Condition Survey: Our team of technicians conducts a detailed survey of each AHU, recording technical specifications, operating status, and existing issues.
  • Detailed Drawing Preparation: Based on the survey results, we prepare a new design drawing, ensuring accuracy and suitability for the project's requirements.
  • Delivery of Materials/Equipment to the Construction Site: All EC-Motor fans, partition frames, cables, electrical equipment, and auxiliary materials are fully assembled at the construction site, ready for the construction process.

2. Power Disconnection and Removal of Old Fans

To ensure absolute safety and create space for the AHU fan upgrade, this stage is carried out carefully:

  • AHU Isolation & Hazardous Energy Sources: The AHU system is completely disconnected from the power supply, ensuring that there are no energy sources that could pose a hazard during the work.
  • Removal of Existing Brackets and Wiring: The supporting components and old electrical wiring are removed.
  • Removal of V-belts, Removal of Motor Fixing Screws: V-belts and the old motor retaining screws are removed.
  • Removal of Screws Between Ducting & Fan, Removing the Fan from the AHU: The old fan is gently removed from its original position.
  • AHU Panel Removal to Create Space: The AHU panels are removed to create a convenient space for installing the new fan.
  • Removing the Motor Power Cable from the AHU: The power cable of the old motor is completely disconnected.

3. Installation of the New EC-Motor Fan

This is the most important step of the AHU renovation process, requiring meticulousness and precision:

  • Installing the Partition Steel Plates Parallel to the Omega Support Bars: The partition plates are installed to create a solid structure for the new fan.
  • Installing the Omega Bars into the 4 AHU Frame Bars, Connecting the New Fan Walls: The Omega bars are fixed to the AHU frame, creating a complete space for the EC fan.
  • Installing the Fan in the Correct Position According to the Design, Fixed with Screws: The EC-Motor fan is placed in the correct position and securely fixed, ensuring stable operation.
  • Ensure Correct Technical and Occupational Safety Practices: The entire installation process strictly adheres to technical standards and safety regulations.

4. Control Panel Renovation

To integrate smart control and optimize operation, renovating the electrical cabinet is essential:

  • Removing Old VFDs and Control Electrical Equipment: Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and outdated con
  • Replacing with Control Equipment Suitable for EC-Motors: New control equipment, compatible with EC-Motor technology, is installed.
  • Connecting the EC-Motor Control Electrical Cabinet to the DDC for Control and Monitoring: The electrical cabinet is connected to the Direct Digital Control (DDC) system for intelligent monitoring and control.
  • Checking Insulation of Equipment and Power Cables: Ensuring maximum electrical safety for the entire system.

5. Test Run & Calibration

This final stage ensures that the system operates perfectly after the HVAC system upgrade:

  • Applying Equipment Tag Names, Power Cables & Signal Cables: Clear labeling makes management and maintenance easier.
  • Measuring Equipment and Power Cable Insulation: Rechecking the entire electrical system to ensure safety.
  • Checking Screws, Marking Paint: Ensuring all connections are secure and marked.
